Ten Questions they shouldnt Ask you

Although HR departments should be aware of questions that are illegal to ask prospective employees, some hiring managers aren’t so savvy. Many illegal questions are easy for just about anyone with elementary social graces to avoid, but others might surprise you. In general, you should not ask interviewees about their age, race, national origin, marital or parental status, or disabilities.

Note that this list offers only some very broad guidelines and is not exhaustive. Check with your company’s HR department to see if your state or locality, or even your company, has additional restrictions on what you may ask.

This article and more information is available here.. http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/10things/?p=229

#1: Where were you born?

This question might seem like small talk as you get to know a person, but it could also be used to gather information illegally about the candidate’s national origin. Although it may seem more relevant, you should also avoid asking, “Are you a U.S. citizen?” You can ask whether a candidate is authorized to work in the United States, but avoid asking about citizenship.

#2: What is your native language?

Again, the problem is that this question could be used to determine national origin. You can ask whether the person knows a language if it is required for the job. For example, if job responsibilities include supporting Spanish-speaking customers, it’s fair to ask whether the candidate speaks Spanish.

#3: Are you married?

Here’s another question that would seem innocent in most settings, but definitely not in a job interview. Because you can’t discriminate on the basis of marital status, this question is off limits.

#4: Do you have children?

This might sound like small talk, too — an innocent question in most settings — but not in a job interview. It’s covered by a general prohibition about discrimination over parental status.

#5: Do you plan to get pregnant?

In the past, employers sometimes asked this question to weed out women who might take a maternity leave. It has always been rude coming from a casual acquaintance, and now it’s illegal as well.

Tip: To avoid asking the wrong questions, develop an interview form and use a copy of it for each candidate. It will document that you asked each interviewee the same questions. Failing to do so may establish a pattern that could seem discriminatory. For example, if you ask only women about their willingness to travel, thinking that the responsibilities of childcare would make them balk at business trips, you could establish a pattern of discrimination.

Remember..

Is this enough?... Do we really care for them?... A question asked around the world due to changing political landscape. Chief of Defence Staff Sir Graham Eric Stirrup recently said, people lack respect for the Soldiers who give fight and give their life for the country. So lets take this time to remember what they did for us.

We are fortunate enough at least to a certain degree to express our selves... do what we like and argue over , silly little things like who is better than whom in mindless talent shows that claim to scoop out the X factor in people...

( I think the one that Sirasa... cost the country billions of Taxpayers money and we lost several jets)

Pray remember its them who made all that possible...

We salute you ...

It is a Capital Mistake to Theroise before we have all the facts..

I remember the very day that President Premadasa was killed.. We were at home, not too interested in " May day" and the Photo ops that provide for the basted that ran and continue to run our country. They want to give out the massage... " look, we are among the people... , we represent them...".
(The fact that most the people were paid to be there,
doesn't really go with the theme of representing the workers....but we will put that aside.. for the moment..)
May be he was after a quick flash of public approval .... may he was sadistic basted that killed a lot of people... or may be he was a man who according to some has a very clear idea of where our country should head towards. What ever the truth is.. I salute him as he was our president.. I
dont agree with him. But I respect the law abiding tax payers who voted for him.

Why, you may ask.. a trip down the memory lane to talk about a man who has no bearing on the present situation ( I know,.... that is a questionable.. statement..)
Well.. I will go back to where I started.. I
remember the day he was assassinated. Various reports came in with different accounts... I remember a man pissed drunk rideing motor cycle shouting

"
keselwather Gorakaya Iwari..." ( if you dont understand, dont worry.. its not important..)...

UNP
supporters claimed that he was unharmed.. and some other claimed he was blown bits.. some claimed the white handkerchief he was holding was sign that he felt threatened..

(yes, a voice in my head too.. seem to shout... get to the Fucking Point.. )

Point is this.....

They ( SLAF) have bombed the X-ray camp... which meant to be
Prabakarn's hideout.. Is he dead? According to the Tamils community in "London".. which is quite far way from Killinochi, I might add.. he is alive and well and government is trying to spread rumors..

According to the government.. Prabakarans goose may well be cooked..

Who is right ? When will we know.. ? ....

Answer to that question is simple.. Some one I love and
admire very much, by the name of Sherlock Holmes once said..

It is a Capital Mistake to
theorise before we have all the facts..

We will wait and see..

Suspence is Killing.. Would it be true...

The LTTEin total disarray ordered the closure of all shops in Kilinochchi and maintained radio silence following yesterday’s decapitating air strike on a hideout known as ‘X-ray base’, at Iranamadu, frequented by LTTE leader Prabhakaran around 11.15 yesterday morning.

Although the fate of the Tiger chief was not immediately known, the military was confident that he could have been in the heavily fortified bunker at the time of the raid. "We are awaiting confirmation from our intelligence operatives on the ground," a high ranking military officer told The Island adding that he was almost certain Prabhakaran had been there at that time. "The bunker has been reduced to dust," he claimed, "several LTTEleaders may have bee killed."

He admitted that deadly bunker busters weighing about 1,000 kg each had been used as the SLAF ‘didn’t want to leave anything to chance’.

Migs and Kfirs, on a low flying mission had targeted the base, located East of the Iranamadu Tank in the Kalmadukulama area the SLAF sources said.

Military Intelligence had been watching the LTTE leader’s movements in the Wanni during the last few days. They had reported their findings about his presence in this hideout to the SLAF.

According to Air Force spokesman Wing Commander Andrew Wijesuriya the sorties were carried out on information obtained through real-time air surveillance and ground reconnaissance. He also said that the targeted location had been under reconnaissance for some time. Combat pilots had confirmed that the target was accurately hit, he said.

The Defence Ministry said in a communique that the air raid had been timed for a "special" activity that was going on at the LTTE base.

However, sources refrained from commenting further on the issue. They said the targeted ‘terror hub’ was located in a thick jungle patch, North of the LTTE's runway in Iranamadu. The area has been long demarcated as a ‘high security zone’ out of bounds for civilians.

The SLAF has been continuously supporting the ground troops in their ongoing operations in the North and the Vanni.

On November 26, it was reported that Prabhakaran had received minor injuries in an attack by the SLAF but the LTTE website denied the story.

However, the LTTE leadership was furious that a number of its top leaders, as well as second level local leaders, were also targeted in the combined operations by the armed forces and the police commandos in the recent months. In retaliation they have started attacking civilians in the deep south and other parts of the island.

More Deaths Doesnt Mean We are Winning.. Keep recent Histroy in Mind and be Careful..

Sri Lankan troops killed seven Tamil Tigers in the island's far north on Monday, taking the death toll from fierce fighting to 73, mostly rebels, since Saturday alone, the military said.

Troops destroyed three rebel bunkers in the far northern Jaffna peninsula early on Monday, the latest in a series of confrontations along a shared "border" that separates government territory from the rebels' de facto state in the north.

Weekend clashes in the northern Jaffna Peninsula, northern district of Vavuniya and northwestern district of Mannar amid now near-daily air raids, land and sea battles and bombings killed 62 rebels and four soldiers, the military said, as a 25-year civil war escalates.

"Troops attacked three bunkers in Jaffna and killed seven LTTE terrorists," a spokesman at the Media Centre for National Security said, asking not to be named in line with policy.

The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), who seek to carve out an independent state in north and east Sri Lanka, were not immediately available for comment.

There were no independent accounts of how many people were killed or what had happened. Analysts say both sides tend to overstate enemy losses and play down their own.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa's administration notified mediator Norway late on Thursday it was formally scrapping a six-year ceasefire pact that fell apart on the ground in early 2006. Well over 5,000 people have been killed since then.

The government has given a 14-day notice period, meaning the paper truce officially ends on Jan. 16.

Back on Track.. At least trying to...

jan 07, Batticaloa: Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) yesterday recommenced the public bus service between Batticaloa and Aryampathi after 18 years.

The bus service which links areas where Tamils and Muslims live was stopped in 1990 due to the rising of terrorist activities in the Batticaloa District.

According to SLTB sources, Kattankudi bus depot operates the service. There are 10 shuttles to be carried daily, the sources added.
